1: Agribusiness Cluster Development Consultant-Young Professional

Position Summary:
The 2SCALE program, funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, is one of the most innovative incubator programs of IFDC for inclusive agribusiness in sub-Saharan Africa. 2SCALE implements a portfolio of partnerships in eight countries in sub-Saharan Africa (Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Niger, Nigeria and South Sudan). The PPP approach adopted by 2SCALE puts the private sector in the lead by facilitating and co-financing joint interventions that drive inclusiveness. Inclusiveness in the context of 2SCALE entails empowering youth, women, and low-income communities to be fairly integrated in agri value chains by ensuring their ownership and voice are visible and that risks and rewards are fairly shared by the stakeholders. To ensure this, the program supports grassroots actors’ empowerment through developing Agribusiness Clusters (ABCs). Further, enhances youth economic inclusion and skills matching in partnerships.
Agribusiness clusters are local networks of business that complement each other and function around common opportunities and challenges. These ABCs are supported by business support service providers and ABC coaches. The capacity building includes various “hard” and “soft” skills identified as gaps hindering the performance of the Agribusiness Clusters (ABCs).
2SCALE is looking for a young professional who will provide support to Agribusiness clusters under PPPs in Ethiopia. The Agribusiness Cluster Development Consultant will support the country team by actively engaging, lead, and facilitating ABC strengthening activities for PPPs in Ethiopia.
The Agribusiness Cluster Development Consultant will support the Country team in updating the database of ABCs and the Coaches; support the organization and delivery of capacity buildings, networking of grassroots actors, field level coaching; and facilitate relationship building to enable actors to plan and take joint actions based on their common constraints and opportunities.
Skills Competencies & Educational background
- Bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics, agribusiness, extension, or rural development.
- Experience in agribusiness, organizing of training programs preferably at the grassroots level including technical, business, marketing, management, organizational etc.
- At least 1 years of working experience in agriculture or rural development.
- Ability to communicate effectively with grassroots stakeholders and to stimulate a genuinely participatory and interactive learning process.
- Strong presentation and report-writing skills.
- Result-orientated and ability to take initiative to reach targets.
- Conversant in English.
