1. Communication and Media Coordinator
Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Position Summary:
The role of the Communications and Media Coordinator is to lead collaboration with program teams in the implementation of communications, advocacy and campaign strategies, media engagement plans, digital and social media strategies, visibility and communications plans for programs and Plan International Ethiopia’s brand roll-out. The post holder will work to ensure compliance with government requirements on campaign and advocacy initiatives.
The post holder will lead the production and development of communications materials that are necessary for communication with donors, stakeholders, government, beneficiaries and Plan International Ethiopia staff members. S/he will work on positive media relations with the local media outlets, to boost the public profile of Plan International Ethiopia, in addition to supporting program teams on advocacy initiatives.
Skills Competencies & Educational background
- Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications, Journalism, Development Communication, Behavioural Communication, Literature or Social Sciences.
Strong experience in designing communication materials and campaigns on social issues such as child rights, human rights, workers’ rights, gender-based violence or child exploitation and abuse.
Proficiency in MS office tools, publisher, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.
Qualifications/ Experience Desirable: - Five years of related experience with international NGOs or multinationals pertinent work experience preferably related to children and human rights.
Good media relations and knowledge of social media
Languages Required: - Fluency in English and Amharic language is essential (perfect written and spoken)
Knowledge of other local and international language is desirable

2. Sun Wash Project Team Lead
Location: Country Office, Ethiopia
Position Summary:
Plan International Ethiopia has been implementing a Wash project which is a climate-resilient solar powered water supply system, sanitation and hygiene promotion services for the target communities in Gambella regional state to increase access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene to refugees and the hosting- communities. So, the project needs an experienced WASH project manager to handle the technical aspects of the WASH project at the expected level in order to realise the primary goals and guarantee the quality of the deliverables.
The job holder is responsible to manage efficiently and effectively the Sun WASH project to meet the goal of the project by coordinating PIE’s Sun WASH team with the country office, Plan Danish National Office (PlanBørnefonden), Water Mission (WM) and other stake holders in line with the country strategy to meet the donor compliance requirements to benefit the target community.
Skills Competencies & Educational background
- A minimum of a University Master’s Degree in Project Management, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Child Protection, Development Studies, Sociology/Social work, Economics or any related fields
Minimum 7 years plus relevant experience and of which at least 3 years in managerial position with NGOs in leading programs/ projects.
Demonstrated solid experience in the management of key programmatic areas relevant to Gender Transformative WASH emergency response under the country program.
Additional experience and commitment to, and understanding of, participatory approaches to respond for disaster affected people, child protection, GBV, and Climate resilientPrevious experience of managing and developing a multi-disciplinary team.

5. Economic Empowerment Officer

Position Summary:
The position holder is primarily responsible to empower adolescent girls and young women through sanitation market income-generating activities to lead, redesign, implementing, monitor, and evaluation, and manage
The post holder is responsible for the delivery of results in line with pre-agreed project plans and objectives and oversees Project implementation at all stages throughout the project cycle. Given that a significant amount of the project thematic activities is done in partnership with key government sector offices, s/he will have also a key aspect of the role is nurturing, developing and facilitating the achievement of results.
The post-holder will be based in Gambella yet will be expected to travel to project area of Lare, Itang special woreda, Abole, Abobo and Gog Woreda for approximately 80% of the time.
Skills Competencies & Educational background
- Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, Organizational Development, Gender studies, social sciences or related discipline or equivalent experience;
3 years’ relevant professional work experience in the areas of girl economic empowerment activities such as SanMark group.
Minimum 1 years’ experience of working in the humanitarian and development sector; especially in the gender and livelihood sector.
Experience in working in livelihoods interventions like enterprise development, business management training, youth, and women’s economic empowerment program.
Experience of engagement with the private sector, market actors, and business support services providers.
Experience and skills in playing a supportive role, demonstrating the ability to support field teams’ members to deliver results for operational work.
Experience in working with an NGO – especially in project implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
