1: Intern (GPS and Imaging)
Location: Bahir Dar and Addis Ababa
Experience: Fresh Graduate
Compensation : Gross salary of 8,000 ETB including house allowance

Job Summary:
We are seeking an attentive and detail-oriented individual who will serve as GPS and Imaging Intern for the geo-tagging pilot project. The intern will support collection of GPS data, compile collected data, organize geo-tagged photos, and ensure accuracy and reliability of data by implementing defined quality control measures. The Quality Control Intern for the geo-tagging pilot project will have the following, but not limited to, key duties and responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilites:
Conduct geo-tagging data collection tests:
Help test quality and accuracy of data collection smartphones for GPS coordinates
Help test quality of geo-tagged photos using smartphones
Ensure the accuracy, reliability and completeness of collected data:
As a quality control intern, you will have to implement various appropriate quality control measures to verify the collected data are accurate and reliable.
Genuinely follow and test data collection quality standards, strictly implement quality control measures
Report any observed operational flaws and identified implementation challenges
Moreover, it is your responsibility to make sure that collected data are complete with all required elements before passing them to your supervisor.
Identify inconsistencies in collected data and report visible errors.
Support training of enumerators:
Support training of enumerators on data collection procedures and proper handling of smartphones for the intended task.
Provide regular feedback to enumerators regarding quality of data they have collected
Support configuration and initialization of data collection apps for test and operation
Validate data using set of validation rules:
Use defined set of validation rules to validate and sanitize data
Help improve validation rules as they are being tested during data collection
Help design and test mechanisms to verify the collected data, for example GPS coordinate is within the acceptable geographical area
Support writing up of farmers’ profiles:
Based on collected raw data at field level, support preparation of unique, interesting, and informative farmers’ profiles that includes general background and reasons for planting trees.
Skills Competencies & Educational background
- Bachelor degree graduate in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Computer Science, Statistics, Agriculture or other related disciplines.
- Ability to write clear, concise and informative reports in English.
- Good understanding of accuracy and precision requirements related to GPS data
Basic knowledge of taking clear and focused good quality photos using smartphones
Attention to details, and can adhere to required procedures
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Experience in data collection using mobile devices, ODK, Kobo tools will be advantageous
Command of basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, email, Google Sheets etc..
Language: Fluency in Amharic and English is MANDATORY.
